Music and basketball kick off this weekend’s activities in Floyd County.

The JV and Varsity Buffaloes host Giles County at the high school gym, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.

At The Friday Night Jamboree, The Comptons, Katie & The Bubbatones and The Tune Town Old Time String Band offer gospel, old-time music and bluegrass at the Country Store.  the music kicks off with the gospel hour starting at 6:30 p.m. and the dancing starts at 7:30.

Laney Jones & The Lively Spirits play at Dogtown Roadhouse at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Raleigh/Durham acoustic country singer and songwriter Christiane mixes bluegrass,classic rock and more at Americana Afternoon at the Floyd Country Store, starting at noon.  At 1:15 p.m. Seph and TK from Boones Mill offer an eclectic mix of Bob Dylan, Jack White, Led Zeppelin and more.  Open mic follows at 2:30.

At the Wildwood Farms General Store, Paula Dellenback and Fox River offer bluegrass from 6 to 8 p.m. while Richie Morso performs at Dogtown at 8 p.m.

Both Wildwood and the Floyd Country Store host jam sessions on Sunday afternoon.
