With grief hanging over the gymnasium of Floyd County High School because of the tragic loss of a classmate, the Buffaloes basketball teams took down Auburn Thursday night at home.
Senior Will Cook led scoring with 19 points and was one of four players with three point goals for a 61-39 win. Evan Davis and Justin Conduff and Cole Harris added five each.
The Buffs fell behind 6-0 when Auburn kicked off the game with two three-pointers but recovered and took the lead in the first quarter.
In JV action, the Buffs also won on a night which each match started with a remembrance of a classmate who ended his life way too young Wednesday night. Cheerleaders wore back emblems at the game and classmates signed his locker at FCHS on Thursday.
Our thoughts, condolences and prayers to his family.
