The last gasp of a long, nasty Winter?

We're supposed to be talking about Spring with warm weather and thoughts of sun and fun. But March brought in yet another winter storm after a rough February. Snow and ice covered roads Thursday afternoon, followed by frigid temperatures. Schools closed in anticipation of the approaching storm on Thursday and remain closed.

We’re supposed to be talking about Spring with warm weather and thoughts of sun and fun.

But March brought in yet another winter storm after a rough February.  Snow and ice covered roads Thursday afternoon, followed by frigid temperatures.

Schools closed in anticipation of the approaching storm on Thursday and remain closed Friday after the thermometer plunged into single digits overnight and a high of just 35 is expected.

In what has become normal in this season of weather extremes, the Region 2A basketball final between the Floyd County Lady Buffaloes and Wise Central at Richlands Middle School was postponed Thursday night and is tentatively scheduled for Friday night.

A warmup more appropriate to the season begins on Saturday with a high in the 50s, followed next week with temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

The last gasp of winter? No guarantees in this year of weather extremes.
