Watch out for the water

Flood warnings out this morning after an overnight deluge that added more moisture to the already soaked ground and swollen streams. High water on roads. Creeks overflowing. Some low-lying bridges flooded.

As this winter of extremes continues, daylight will probably show the overnight rainfall, combined with temperatures in the 50s, washed away most of the remaining snow from the Dec. 18 storm (although the mountains of snow in parking lots remain).

But standing water will cause problems and increase the danger of hydroplaning on roads. With freezing temperatures predicted overnight, Tuesday may bring slick roads and black ice.
