Great music and a benefit for Station 1

051615worx2A good time, the old cliche goes, was had by all and it was true Saturday afternoon and into the evening at Lineberry Park in Floyd with Worx holding court on stage for the second annual benefit concert for Floyd’s Volunteer Fire Department Station 1.

With music by a popular band with strong Floyd connections and an enthusiastic crowd who danced and enjoyed the show, the clouds of weather parted in time to provide a good evening for entertainment and support for a good cause.

The concert got underway just as final results came in from the county’s GOP canvass with longtime deputy Brian Craig winning the nomination for the sheriff’s race and interim prosecutor Eric Branscom took the top spot in the Commonwealth’s Attorney contest.

But politics took a back seat to music, dancing and a good time.

Floyd’s park will host a series of musical events for the summer, including the town jubilees and other activities in a town where music rules and fun is the name of the game.

Congratulations to the folks at the fire department for a pleasant evening that helped those who volunteer to protect the community from fires.
