…our team is leading the game in the bottom of the first and our victory might drown.
Floyd County High School’s Lady Buffaloes opened up a 4-0 lead spurred by a two-run homer and strong play in the opening inning of the Conference Semi-Final against Giles at the FCHS softball field Thursday afternoon but a sprinkle turned into a down pour, complete with game-delaying lightning and thunder and the game was delayed until Friday afternoon, weather permitting.
The delay will also delay the conference final, which could be at Floyd is the Buffaloes beat Giles.
The rain wasn’t enough. Hail stones fell as well while the team and coaches huddled under the tin room of the dugout. To make matters worse, a skunk appeared to be heading up the hill to join them but changed its mind and sought shelter in trees further down the hill.
