  1. I’d like to recommend Pokey Lafarge, my new favorite artist. This young man’s style is eclectic, but blends well with other music heard in Floyd. And he has a terrific band backing him up. From jeffcenter.org:

“Incorporating elements of early jazz, ragtime, country blues, Western swing, and beyond, LaFarge has created a vibrant, deeply expressive body of work that embodies an expansive musical vision and vivid storytelling sensibility that are wholly his own. He’s also earned a reputation as a tireless, uniquely charismatic live performer, winning a loyal international fan base that regularly packs his rousing, celebratory live shows.”

Pokey is playing at the Jefferson Center on Sep 23: http://www.jeffcenter.org/pokey

Check out his music at pokeylafarge.net, and on his youtube channel. The best videos are recorded in the Netherlands, they love him there. I first heard him on Prairie Home Companion doing “Central Time”.

My ulterior motive is that I want Pokey to play at Chantilly Farm. Please check him out, you won’t be dissapointed!
