July 4th weekend approaches

With the 4th of July weekend upon us, add fireworks to the mix of music, art, farmers markets and more to Floyd County activities.

Floyd Artisan Market kicks off at 5:00 p.m. Friday at the Community Market Pavilion at 205 South Locust Street.

Floyd Artists Association holds it First Friday Reception at 203 South Locust from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Friday Night Jamboree brings music and dancing to the Country Store and the streets (weather permitting).  Janet Turner & Friends open on stage for the Gospel Hour at 6:30 p.m., followed by The Buck Mountain Band at 7:00 p.m. and a “to be announced” group at 9:00 p.m.

Woodbury Restaurant & Bar features Karaoke Friday at 182 Woodbury Rd, SW, at 8:00 p.m.

Dogtown Roadhouse has Groova Scape at 301 South Locust Street at 8:40 p.m.

Saturday starts with The Floyd Farmers Market from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Community Pavilion at 205 South Market.

Market at the Mountain runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Harvest Moon at 227 South Locust Street.

Americana Afternoon at The Floyd Country Store features Irish folk singer Jim Sharkey at noon, followed by Blues musician Neal Wyms at 1:15 p.m. and Radford singer/songwriter Carrie Hinkley at 2:15 p.m.

The Annual 4th of July Celebration starts at 6:00 p.m. at Floyd County High School with fireworks after dark.

Wildwood Farms General Store features The Comptons at 2380 Floyd Highway South from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Dogtown Roadhouse celebrates the 4th with Henry Street Blues from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Sunday brings music jams at The Floyd Country Store from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at Wildwood Farms from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Dogtown hosts Open Mic Night at 7:00 p.m.
