Floyd County High School’s Varsity Buffaloes scored on their first possession against Martinsville Friday night with quarterback Brady Underwood connecting with Josh Bary with the first of three touchdown passes for the evening and took a 7-0 lead that didn’t last long.
Cougar quarterback Jay Dandridge took a 30-yard romp into the end zone to tie the score right afterwards and threw 33 yard pass for another to give his team a 14-7 lead and then an 80-yard run in the second quarter extended the lead to 21-7 by the half.
In the third quarter the Buffaloes scored first to bring the game closer at 21-13 after the point after kick failed but Martinsville put the game away with touchdown runs from Zanthus Hairston in the third and fourth quarters.
Underwood connected with Bary again in the fourth, leaving the final score at 34-19 after a second failed point after kick.
The Buffaloes are 1-2 and face James River in a home game on the 18th and then Grayson County on the road on the 25th.
