Music & dancin’ in the streets

Cooler weather kept some of the people home on a Friday night in Floyd but the music was in the air and fans were on Locust Street to listen and dance the night away.

Cooler than normal on Friday night on Locust Street in Floyd but the usual crowd gathered for the music of Nothin’ Common at their customary spot and the tunes and dancing continued into the evening.

Dancers young and older moved to the music and sang along on some songs as Anthony Blackburn, Dwight Vaughn and Mark Vaughn mixed Bluegrass, traditional pop songs and more.

It was part of what makes Floyd a unique area in Southwestern Virginia and the rest of the Old Dominion.  Music fans from around the country and overseas gather on Friday nights for the Jamboree inside the Floyd Country Store and the open music on the streets.

A lot of talk nowadays about what is or is not Floyd County and surrounding areas but music is the tradition, the backbone and the passion that brings the community together.
