The thermometer on our back porch sat at 29 degrees at 5:00 a.m. today, the second straight morning of temperatures just below freezing. If the talking heads at the National Weather Service are correct, we will not be as cold overnight on Monday.
A preview of the upcoming winter? Could be. As with all weather forecasts issued by those with degrees claiming existence as a “meteorologist” and those who play at forecasting as a hobby, prognostications are — at best — a guess.
We’ve just come off a hot summer and a deluge of rain in a brief period that brought record flooding so the best bet is that Mother Nature is not finished with us.
Highs today around 57, lows tonight at 36, then warmer to 68 on Tuesday and down to 41. Wednesday brings a high of 71 and a low of 44 while Thursday promises 73 at the upper end and a low of 49 before coming cooling on Friday — a high of 69 and low of 42.
Highs in the 60s for the coming weekend, then some rain and lower temperatures ranging from the high 30s to the low 50s next week.
Fall is upon us. Days are shorter, temperatures are lower and winter approaches.
Keep warm and enjoy the changing season.
