Big back-to-back wins by the Floyd County Buffaloes and Lady Buffs on the basketball courts of Eastern Montgomery and Floyd County High Schools Thursday and Friday night.
The varsity boys creamed the Mustangs on Floyd’s home court Friday night with a blistering 76-20 triumph and the Lady Buffs delivered an 88-18 creaming at EastMont’s gym on Thursday.
A realignment of districts by the Virginia High School League is moving EastMont and Auburn out of the Three Rivers District next year while tough rivals Carroll County and James River become new district opponents for the Buffaloes.
In Friday night’s game at Floyd, Blake Hairston and Michael Osborne scored 14 points each and Quinten Lackey added another 13. The Buffaloes led the Mustangs 15-2 at the end of the first quarter and 37-4 at the half.
The JV game was closer but the Buffaloes prevailed there as well.
Floyd County will be at home against Glenvar on Wednesday of next week for the basketball homecoming game.
