Spring Fever is right around the corner

Had a taste of Spring Fever last weekend with temperatures the sunshine and temperatures flirting with the low 60s.

It brought out motorcycles, including mine, for careful trips down roads filled with potholes and other ravages of winter.

Winter, however, is as angry as a Republican presidential primary voter in this year and we must endure snow showers Thursday.

If the weather forecasters are correct, and that is always a big “if,” the accumulation will be less than an inch and temperatures will start to climb again by the weekend into the high 40s and then highs in the mid 50s on Monday, mid 60s on Tuesday and remain that way through St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.

For the Lady Buffaloes basketball team of Floyd County, March Madness is in full gear.  The ladies open state tournament action at James Madison University in Harrisonburg at noon Saturday against Buffalo Gap.  It will be the Lady Buffaloes against the Lady Bisons.

The winner at that match then plays Ridgeview for the state semi-final match at the Seigal Center at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond on Thursday, March 10 and the state final is Saturday morning, March 12 at the same location.

Spring is near.

It’s about time.
