The skies cleared for a while, allowing the annual chili cook off featuring spicy creations from the Fire Department and Rescue Squads of Floyd County to flow from the pots at Lineberry Park Friday afternoon.

Postponed by weather earlier in the year, the cook off brought chili samplers in while others kept a wary eye on the weather.

The rain did arrive a little more than halfway through the event but what fell from the sky did not dampen the enthusiasm of those who came to sample the chilis and then gulp down ice cream to cool their their insides.
