Bluegrass legend Jesse McReynolds and The Virginia Boys took to the stage of The Floyd Country Store Thursday night as part of The Crooked Road Homecoming series of concerts throughout Southwestern Virginia.
McReynolds, who is 86, was part of the Jim and Jesse bluegrass duo and pioneered a mixture of “cross picking” and “split string” mandolin playing. He told stories about playing in the Bristol Sessions and being part of The Grand Old Opry. His grandson is now part of the band as a guitar player and singer.
