I’ve had the honor and privilege to photograph America’s Fourth of July for more than half a century.

From the celebrity-laden celebrations in Washington and New York, to riverfront displays on the Mississippi River in St. Louis to the small towns and hamlets throughout the states, America celebrates Independence Day in many ways or — in some cases — not at all.

The video above was put together in 2012 but, I believe, captures much of the variety of recognizing our country from good and bad points of view.

Weather permitting, Floyd County residents can watch fireworks along with music and food at the high school, starting at 6 p.m. with the fireworks scheduled for 9 :15 p.m.  Sponsored by the Floyd County Merchants & Businessman’s Association.
