The Lady Buffs, Floyd County High School’s varsity girls’ basketball team, are the Three Rivers District champion and they are one win away from capturing the Region C crown. They beat Radford, the number one ranked team in the state, in the district finals and then beat Parry McCluer in the first round of the regionals Tuesday night and destroyed Narrows Thursday night at Lord Botetourt.

The Lady Buffs meet Radford again for the Region C finals tonight and you can count on a passel of Floyd Countians making the drive to the event. Floyd’s fans outnumbered the home team at Parry McCluer in Buena Vista Tuesday night.

Shooting high school sports brings back a lot of memories. I shot just about every Floyd County High sporting event as school photographer from 1963-65 for both The Floyd Press and the school paper.

Now, 40 years later, I’m doing it again. And it’s a hell of a lot fun.
