We enter the first weekend of the third month of summer, the temperatures are forecast cooler for Friday with still more rain, but  heat and humidity return on Saturday but the weekend is here and there are lots of things to do.

The Floyd Artists Association celebrates First Friday in the Station at South Locust, 203 S. Locust St. from 5 to 8 p.m.

Floyd Artisan Market occupies the Community Market Pavilion at 205 S. Locust St. 5-9 p.m.

Music on South Locust Street on Friday night depends on the weather.  Scattered thunderstorms are scheduled to move into the area starting around 11:30 a.m. and are in the forecast for the evening.

The Friday Night Jamboree kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at the Country Store at 206 S. Locust St. with Janet Turner & Friends for the gospel hour and dancing at music beginning at 7:30 p.m. with music from the Tower Street String Band and others.

Black King Coal is at Dogtown Roadhouse,, 302 S. Locust at 8 p.m.

Saturday, August 6

Floyd Farmers Market in the Community Pavilion, 205 S. Locust St. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Floyd County Rescue Squad – 2nd Annual Stuff the Ambulance at Exxon/Clark Oil & Gas, 413 Main St. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Check Ruritan Club Country Festival, Check Elementary School, 6810 Floyd Hwy N., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Americana Afternoon at The Floyd Country Store, 206 S. Locust St., with indie folk band Of Country at noon, Liv and Letliv at 1:15 p.m. and Stella Trundel & Johnny Sutherland at 2:30.

The Country Boys at Wildwood Farms General Store, 2380 Slyd Hwy N., 7-9 p.m.

The Moon & You at Dogtown Roadhouse, 302 S. Locust St., 8 p.m.

Sunday, August 7

Sunday Music Jam at Floyd Country Store, 206 S. Locust St. 1:30 to 6 p.m.

Music Jam: Wildwood General Store, 2380 Floyd Hwy S.. 2 to 4:30 p.m.

Open Mic, Dogtown Roadhouse,, 302 S. Locust St. 6 – 10 p.m.
