Rain drops are falling on our heads…and feet

Mud, mud and more mud.
Yes, the rain is falling.

UPDATE: The Floyd County High School varsity football game scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday night is postponed to Monday, October 10, because of the the rain and forecasts of heavier downpours in the evening.

Yes, that wet stuff falling this morning in and around Floyd County will get heavier as the day progresses.

While the rain that is falling here in Southwestern Virginia is not part of Hurricane Matthew, the storm that is pounding Florida and will head up the coastlines of Georgia and the Carolinas influence the weather here in the mountains.

The National Weather Service puts the chances of rain this Friday morning at 30 t0 35 percent, increasing to 45 percent at 10 a.m., 80 percent by 11 a.m and then 100 percent by 1:00 p.m. and staying at full volume throughout the afternoon, into the evening and continuing overnight and into Saturday.

All is not lost, however, if the current forecasts that call for a return to Sunny and dry on Sunday and into next week hold.

Hang in there, keep your umbrellas and rain gear handy and stay dry.
