Youth took the stage of the Floyd Country Store Saturday night with gusto Saturday night.
Shadow Grass, with musicians and singers ranging from 12 to 16, played classic tunes from legends like Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs and Ricky Sgaggs with strong instrument solos that delighted the crowd.
Gravel Road Bluegrass, another popular area group of youngsters in the same age grouping, opened the show with classics like “Blue Ridge Mountain Girl’ and Johnny Cash’s “Tennessee Flattop Box.”
The bands may be young but their love of old traditional music is strong and their musical skills display talent and skill beyond their years.
A hot time on a cold night in Floyd. Photos are still captures of video shot and clips will be posted once edited.
