Cassidy Pratt of the Lady Buffaloes: 15 points for the night in quarterfinal win.

Floyd County High School’s surging Lady Buffaloes topped a determined Stuarts Draft team that led one briefly in the first quarter, closed to within two in the second but fell to strong defense and key shooting Thursday night in the state quarterfinals at James Madison University in Harrisonburg.

The 59-44 win puts the Lady Buffs in the state final four and they face Central Wise in the semi-finals at JMU on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Abi Belshan and Cassidy Pratt led Floyd shooting with 15 points apiece and strong three-point performance, including three by Mallary Cox.

The Lady Buffs led 17-14 at the end of the first quarter, 34-23 at the half and put in 17 points in the third to just 9 by Stuarts Draft and maintained the lead in final quarter of close scoring by both teams.

Abi Belshan: Also scored 15 points in win.

Mallary Cox: Three triple pointers for the game.

Elizabeth Quesenberry: Driving for the basket.
