Sunlight breaking through the clouds.

Rain, music and Mother’s Day highlight the upcoming May weekend in and around Floyd County,

The annual kids fishing day on the Little River along Thunderstruck Road, however, was postponed from this Saturday until next week (Saturday, May 20), because of the wet conditions from the hard rains Thursday night and Friday.

Citizens Co-op hosts its annual Community Yard Sale in their parking lot on Route 8 just north of Floyd, starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday,.

Along with the Friday Night Jamboree, the Floyd Country Store also features Alice Gerrard & The Piedmont Melody Makers on stage Saturday night.

Rainy weather on Friday may put a dent in music on the streets Friday night.

Say “hi” to your moms. Sunday is Mother’s Day.
