Lots of riders of motorcycles in our area this week.

Expect to see a lot of motorcycles in our area for the next few days.

The Harley Owners Group (HOG) is sponsoring the Merging Mountains Rally, starting today, bringing more than 2,000 of the two-wheeled machines into Roanoke for four days of riding and the roar of pipes throughout Southwestern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley areas of Virginia.

The four-state event focuses on rides in the area and expect to see lots of visitors in the region.

As a member of HOG, I will be in the middle of this gathering and will helping through Saturday.

The Virginia Department of Transportation recently added “Watch Out for Motorcycles” signs in areas frequented by two-wheel riders, including ones at the top and bottom of Bent Mountain.

Please do watch out for our bike riders — both locals and visitors — and say “howdy” when they stop and visit our area.
