Floyd County High School’s varsity football team ran into a one-man yardage machine named Jack Leonard of Glenvar, who piled up 234 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Highlanders ended the Buffaloes season with a 24-0 shutout in the second-round Region 2C playoff Friday night in Roanoke County.

Leonard’s yardage alone overwhelmed the 85 total yards of the Buffs in a night when Leonard ran 46 times.

For the first quarter, the Buffs kept the Highlanders scoreless in the first quarter but went into the locker room at the half down 10-0 and couldn’t put a complete scoring drive together in the second half as the Glenvar scored in the third and fourth quarters.

For the regional final next week, Glenvar hosts Appomattox, which put an end to Giles’ season Friday night.
