Banjo pickin’ on high: Little Nora Brown (left) and Mac Traynham at The Floyd Radio Show.

Veteran musician Mac Traynham is a veteran banjo picker.  So is 12-year-old Nora Brown, an old-time music prodigy from Brooklyn, NY, who delighted audiences Saturday night at the Floyd Radio Show.

The young Nora began learning old-time music and the banjo at age 5 and plays and sings with many of her old time mentors including harmonica master Trip Henderson under the band name Tin + Bone.

Mentored by many of her favorite old time musicians — including John Cohen, Anna Roberts-Gevalt, Mark Schatz, Mark Simos, KC Groves, Stephanie Coleman and Courtney Hartman — she is already garnering awards and recognitions for her music and talents.

Mac and Jenny Traynham, Little Nora and The Newlin Family provided music and more for the monthly show that is broadcast via the Internet on the first Saturday of each month.

Christmas carols from two members of The Newlin Family.
