The weather forecast of a wind chill warning through noon Thursday is not a wind chill advisory that is expected to last through at least noon Friday.
The wind chill is now expected to keep the “real feel” temperature below zero most of Thursday, dropping back to below zero around 4 p.m. Thursday and stay keep dropping through the night.
Floyd County Schools, which were expected to open Thursday, are cancelled.

NORTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 30 MPH, WITH GUSTS OF 30 TO 50 MPH CAN BE EXPECTED DURING THIS TIME. * WHERE… PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL VIRGINIA, NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA AND SOUTHEAST WEST VIRGINIA. * WHEN… UNTIL NOON EST FRIDAY. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS… THE STRONG WINDS MAY BLOW DOWN WEAK OR DEAD TREES WHICH COULD RESULT IN POWER OUTAGES.
