The Lady Knights of James River High ran into a stampede of Lady Buffaloes in Floyd Friday night and limped back to Buchanan after a 56-10 rout.

Floyd County jumped out to a  quick 12-0 lead before James River managed its first score — 2 points in free throws but the Lady Buffs kept the pressure on and led 42-4 at halftime.  Coach Travis Cantrell rotated his entire benth through the third and fourth quarters.

The win — a third over James River this season — gives Floyd a first round victory in the Three Rivers District Tournament and home court advantage on Monday when the Lady Buffaloes gave Glenvar.

Floyd’s ladies also host the first game of regionals next Friday.  Their opponent? James River again.

On the male side, the Buffaloes traveled to James River Friday night and lost 62-37 to the Knights but will still will go to Chatham next Friday night for their first round in that tournament.
