Gotta be in court this morning. No, I’m not in trouble with the law. At least not yet. I’m back on the beat, covering the courts for The Floyd Press. An old journalist shakes off the cobwebs, pulls out his notebook, and goes after the news.

A few months ago, Press editor Wanda Combs asked me to shoot photos of high school sports for the paper, a homecoming of sorts to the place where my journalism career started more than 40 years ago. Now she’s kind enough to let me resharpen my writing skills, covering not only the courts but also county government for the paper.
