Memorial Day 2018 weekend arrives, the unofficial kickoff of Summer for most and the time who remember those who have served and paid the ultimate price to defend our freedom.

Thousands of motorcyclists head for Washington, DC, this weekend for the annual Rolling Thunder ride to not forget those lost in action and still unaccounted for from the Vietnam War.

At Chantilly Farm on Franklin Pike north of Floyd, the 8th Annual Chantilly Farm Bluegrass Festival kicks off Friday for a three-day run, starting at noon with the Indian Run Stringband and popular favorites like Junior Sisk and the Lonesome River Band in the evening hours.  Full schedule here.

The Artisan Fair goes into full gear Friday evening at the down market on Locust Street from 5 to 9 p.m.

And much more.  Details at the Floyd Tourism web site.
