A brief respite from the rain and heat

The rain even sent tubers on the Little River scurrying for cover.

With the exception of a possible thunderstorm or two Wednesday, the week looks mostly dry and warmer than before but not as stifling but that changes with temperatures climbing next week into the mid-to-high 80s along with seasonal storms for most of July.

Call it payback for the cooler than normal temperatures that hung around for the early part of June.

The thermometer today is expected to hit 85 with zero chance of precipitation and an overnight low of 65, then a 40 percent chance of rain and storms with a low 80 Thursday and 82 Friday before climbing up to 85 on Saturday with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms.

Then rain is forecast every day through at least July 24.

Keep an umbrella handy, along with plenty of water to hydrate.
