Power out for third time this week

A downed tree apparently knocked out power to our house Saturday afternoon, along with 191 other customers for four hours and 34 minutes.

One report said an auto accident on Cannady School road took down the tree.  Another said the storm downed it.  ApCo’s “official” cause?  A “tree out of line.”

Our generator kicked in when the power went down and kept everything running.

It might have been worse.  Appalachian Power originally predicted power would not be restored until 8:30 p.m. but our generator shut down just before 7:00 p.m. after electricity began to flow again from the ApCo feed.

With storms and lightning now a daily habit, power outages now are the norm.  This was the third outage this past week that required our generator to kick in.
