With efforts to restore power falling behind, Appalachian Power Company now estimates restoration efforts in Floyd County may take up to 10 p.m. Sunday or perhaps even later to bring electric service back to all customers.
More than 4,000 homes and businesses remain without power Saturday morning as crews — bolstered by help from Kentucky Power and other states — worked though Friday night and will do to do the same Saturday evening to clear downed trees and reconnect lines and replace damaged equipment.
Emergency officials remind those using generators to keep an eye on oil and fuel levels.
