Floyd County schools closed Monday

Not surprising, given ghe weather.

Floyd County Public Schools have closed for Monday, along with many other school in the New River and Roanoke valleys and schools systems throughout Southwestern Virginia.

Ice from the weekend’s winter storm leaves many roads in the area hazardous and with highs just slightly above freeing on Monday the problems could continue.

Roanoke city schools have a two-hour delay, along with Salem.

While widespread power outages in electrical power hit Carroll and Grayson counties and the Williamson Road in Roanoke, Appalachian Power reported no power outages at 9 p.m. Sunday.

Updates when more information comes in.
