Temperatures could reach 72 degrees Thursday

Enjoy the warm weather over the next couple of days because winter returns with arctic blasts over the weekend.

The National Weather Service forecasts a high of 60 in Floyd County Wednesday and even warmer up to 72 on Thursday but the thermometer drops to a high of 53 Friday with an overnight low of 18, then climbs to just 39 on Saturday and 38 on Sunday.

Highs next week in the 40s and lows near or just below freezing with some rain and snow on Friday, Feb. 15 and Saturday, Feb 16.

Showers forecast for Wednesday adds to soaking conditions in the area and more moisture is on the way.

On the bright side, Floyd County High School’s Lady Buffaloes basketball squad hosts senior night during a match against Alleghany Wednesday evening.  Festivities start at 5:30 pm with the junior varsity match with the senior game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

District basketball play has begun for basketball and regional games are just around the corner.
