70th edition of The Floyd Radio Show

Gina Furtado and band.

Another great night of music, skits and entertainment at The Floyd Radio Show at The Country Store on Saturday.

The music came from The Sunny Mountain Serenaders, a trio of old-time players featuring Mark Campbell on fiddler, Mac Traynham with banjo and harmonica and John Schwab on backup guitar; Gina Furtado on banjo, her sister on violin and two other talented musicians on guitar and bass; and Tricia Spencer out of Kansas and Howard Rains of Texas in a duo of old-time and original songs.

Saturday’s show was the 70th edition of the Internet radio show that plays on the first Saturday of each month from September to May of each year.

I began filming the show when it began and have provided archives for the Country Store since then, except for three months from December 2012 to March 2013 while recovering from a motorcycle accident.  It’s been an honor and always a pleasant evening of music and more in our part of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Crooked Road of Virginia.
