Lady Buffs kick off softball with win

Floyd County High School’s varsity Lady Buffaloes opened their 2019 softball season Tuesday with a 7-5 win over the Patrick County Cougars.

Olivia Yates put Floyd in the lead with a lead-off home run in the first inning, then helped seal the win from the pitcher’s mound by striking out seven.

The Lady Buff’s offense included two hits each for Caroline Hale, Madison Harris and Morgan Harris and a double from Tiara Reed.

While the Lady Buffs sent the Lady Cougars home licking their wounds, the baseball Buffaloes scored a 4-3 win over Patrick in Stuart.

On Wednesday, the varsity baseball Buffs take on Pulaski County at the FCHS diamond at 5:00 p.m.

JV Lady Buff’s softballers take on Christiansburg at FCHS while Middle School baseball and softball teams take on Grayson County Thursday at the Floyd County Recreation Park.  The Middle School games start at 4:30 and the JV Lady Buffaloes match begins at 5:00 p.m.

JV softball also plays against Christiansburg in Floyd at 5:00 p.m. Friday.
