Different outcome today than on Wednesday.

The Floyd County High School Lady Buffaloes downed Christiansburg 14-4 at home Thursday, recovering from a loss to a 15-7 drubbing from Auburn the day before.

Shaylee Gearhart had two RBI’s and three runs scored, Amy Whitlow hit a home run with one of her two hits, Hannah Vest had a double with two RBIs and two runs scored for Floyd (4-2). Caroline Hale drove in two runs with two hits, one a double while Carly Quesinberry had two hits and three runs scored. Tori Pratt’s two hits included a double and two runs scored.

Olivia Yates kept Christiansburg’s hitting in check as the winning pitcher.

That the second time this season that the Lady Buffs handed an embarrassing loss to the Lady Blue Demons and they also scored 14 runs in the first win on March 14 in Christiansburg.  That score was 14-1.

Sorry I missed the game.  A wayward baseball struck my shin during Wednesday’s ballgame and it decided to swell and throb on Thursday.

A second bad day in a row, however, for the Buffaloes baseball team, with an 11-3 loss to the Blue Demons at Christiansburg High Thursday.  They also lost to Auburn Wednesday.

In the loss to Christiansburg, Floyd has four errors and 11 walks.  Avery Chaffin and Presley Yates brought runs in with doubles but the three runs in the third inning was all scored the Buffs scored against the Blue Demons.  The Buffaloes at 1-5-1 so far this season.

No word as of this writing on the boys tennis team scores.  They played Patrick County on the road.

No games scheduled Friday but Floyd’s middle school baseball team plays Graham at their school on Saturday at a game that begins at 10 am.

Updates as we receive them.
