Big band music is expected to waft over downtown Floyd on Independence Day as Sway Katz brings its swing to downtown for the Small Town Summer at Warren G. Lineberry Park as part of the July 4th festivities.
The 20 piece band should bring classic swing, contemporary jazz, Latin, funk and pop to the town where old time music and bluegrass rules.
Mother Nature would be a featured performer as well with isolated and scattered thunderstorms in the weather outlook, starting around 7 pm, which could force the show inside.
Weather could also headline the annual fireworks show set for Friday evening at Floyd County High School as forecasts call for a 35 to 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms. The celebration is open at 6 pm with fireworks beginning at dark.
