Floyd County High School’s Junior Varsity volleyball took its unbeaten streak this season down to the wire against Giles Tuesday night before a large crowd in the FCHS gym before pulling out a single point win in the third deciding match and took the win 2-1.

The Varsity almost did the same, coming up just short of wiping out a two-set before falling in the fifth set 25-20.  The Lady Spartans gave the Lady Buffaloes its third loss in 12 games this season.  The Lady Buffaloes 6-3 overall record, however, leaves them 0-2 in district play.

The Middle School teams went into a third set tied 1-1 but Floyd lost the close third and deciding set as well.

The JV and Varsity teams are back on the road next week, traveling the long road to Alleghany High on Tuesday. Middle School has a match Monday in Carrol County and all three teams return to Floyd County High to face Glenvar Thursday.

After two straight weeks on the road, football varsity returns home Friday, playing Ford Chiswell at 7 p.m.

Kenzee Dalton sends the ball back over the net for a point.
