Banjo extraordinaire Sammy Shelor joined in with Springfield Exit Saturday night before an enthusiastic crowd at the Floyd Country Store.
As one would expect from musicians with an international following, they delivered incredible bluegrass music on a fall night in Floyd. Shelor’s appearances with fellow banjo lover Steve Martin, who is also a comedian and actor, on David Letterman’s show and other venues, along with his awards and appearances with various bands, include The Lonesome River Band, make the Meadows of Dan banjo picker a favorite for bluegrass fans.
Springfield Exit’s singer and musician Linda Lay spent her early years with Janette Carter of the Carter Family Fold and is the featured vocalist for the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and a master vocalist in the Old Dominions Folklife Program.
The band’s other members include a sought-after session musician and award winners of the International Bluegrass Music Association.
