Hope for a brighter morning

070205morning.jpg I took this picture several days ago, before a prolonged period of cloudy, dreary mornings settled into the area. The Fourth of July weekend was, for the most part, cloudy with rain on and off over the three-day weekend. In a way, it matched my mood and -- I think -- the mood of the nation. We had family over for a cookout but decided against going over to the high school Monday night to see the fireworks. The desire to celebrate just wasn't there.

The Fourth of July weekend was, for the most part, cloudy with rain on and off over the three-day weekend. In a way, it matched my mood and — I think — the mood of the nation.

We had family over for a cookout but decided against going over to the high school Monday night to see the fireworks. The desire to celebrate just wasn’t there.

So I pull this photo out in hopes a brighter morning is coming and the dark, sullen feeling that grips our country can pass.

It will take more than sunshine to make it so but at least that can be a start.
