Weekend reports show 8,081 new COVID-19 cases in Virginia

The death count for the state over the weekend is seven, but a notice from the Virginia Department of health says there is a two-week blackout from the Centers for Disease Control on coding death certificates.

(The numbers reported today represent totals from 5 p.m. Friday through 5 p.m. Sunday of the past weekend. In addition, the Virginia Department of Health says “Starting June 6, 2022, there will be a two-week blackout period where the CDC National Center for Health Statistics will not be returning death certificates submitted by states for coding purposes.
