The snowman cometh

About five inches of snow left its mark Saturday, giving us a white, quiet blanket on the area and leaving postponed events, cancelled church services and slick roads in its wake.

Snow adds a starkness to nature's color and the contrast is often a photographer's delight.

The snow has moved on, dumping even more on the Northeast while the forecast for next week calls for temperatures climbing back up into the 50s and a quick end to the season's first real snowfall.

So much for winter.
