The girls fell behind in the opening mnutes and then went on a stampede, running up 26 unanswered points and leading by more than 40 at halftime. It could have been worse but coach Alan Cantrell pulled most of the first-stringers in the fourth quarter. They play a fast-paced game where the pressure never lets up and explains why this team is the best in the state. And not one of the team’s starters is a senior.

“Damn,” these gals are killing me,” said one exhausted referree as he tried to keep up with the fast-paced game.

They head into the regional semi-finals against George Wythe Thursday night as both the favorite and the number-one ranked team in the state.
