Pulled an all-nighter. Didn’t mean to but just ran out of hours in the day…or two.
Happened this way. Flew back into Washington Sunday after nearly a month on the road (primaries, house sale, other projects). Should have been back a week earlier but didn’t make it, so had to cram a week’s worth of catchup into one day. Needed to be in the studio in Floyd Tuesday morning so the plan was to sackout early Monday night, get up at 3 and leave by 4 for the four-and-a-half hour drive to the mountains.
Lost track of time in the editing studio. Suddenly, it’s 1 a.m. Damn. Take a shower, put out enough food to last the cats for 10 days or so, pack the Wrangler and head South (Southwest actually), armed with three large cups of 7-11 coffee. Pull off at rest stops twice to throw cold water on face and wake back up.
Pull into Jacksonville Center parking lot at 8 a.m. That’s OK. I can knock off early, head for the farm and take a nap before dinner. Again, reality supercedes plan. Suddenly, it’s 6:30 p.m. and getting dark outside. Head to the farm, eat dinner and hit the sack at 8 p.m.
Silly rabbit. All-Nighters are for kids.
