Floyd County’s grls varsity basketball team — so strong in the Three River District opener Tuesday night — ran head-on into the red-hot Radford team at James River High School in Buchanan Thursday night as the Bobcats knocked the Bufaloes ot of the Region C Division 2 semi-fina 67-49. More photos and Roger Mannon’s story next week’s Floyd Press.
The Buffaloes came out flat in the first half and appeared to rally in the third quarter but the Bobcats, led by Marah Synor cored 30 points and the Bobcats played Alan Cantrell-style ball with many steals and an aggressive defense that never really let Floyd County in the game.
Still, the Lady Buffs had a good season,, winning the district title last week by beating Radford for the second time in the year.
They might not be going to Richmond this year but they have no reason to be ashamed.
