Virginia statewide cases: 988,147 total with 45 new infections in Franklin County, 32 in Montgomery, plus 16 each in Carroll and Floyd counties.
Daily increase of 2,598 new cases is highest this week. The 12 additional new deaths include one in Franklin County.
The Commonwealth begins the new month with 971,529 total cases of the virus. Infections normally increase by 1,000 a day. That could put the total cases at over 1 million by year’s end.
Pulaski County reported three new deaths. Montgomery County-Radford had 38 new cases, Roanoke Valley had 92, Carroll County 11 and Floyd County 3
Weekend brought 3,470 new cases with 49 more deaths in Virginia.
Salem reported two new deaths, Franklin County had one, as did Pulaski.
The Commonwealth now has 962,472 infections with 14,616 deaths. One of the 19 new deaths was one in Radford.
New deaths hit 105 in the Commonwealth, as total cases are expected to hit one million before the end of this year. Even rural Floyd County, which seldom used to have even one case, had seven new cases in today’s report and had 13 over the weekend and excee 1,550 in total infections.
